System Description

Your new AqueousAir™ Water Tank Aeration system is designed to introduce oxygen into your water, and ensure your water remains vibrant and alive all year round.

The AqueousAir™ pump is suitable for continuous operation. There is no need to shut off water to allow the pump to rest or cool. However, the system is not required to be operated continuously to provide sufficient oxygenation of your rainwater tanks.

In the event of a blockage or jam, the AqueousAir™ pump will automatically reset the motor to protect the pump. It is important to switch off your AqueousAir™ Water Tank Aeration unit if the water levels in your tank fall below the top of the pump housing.

Some assembly is required. See below instructions for assembly and installation into your rainwater tank.

Operation

Once installed, your AqueousAir™ Water Tank Aeration system can be switched on periodically. Using an electrical automatic timer will allow you to “set and forget”, whilst maintaining regular circulation for optimal oxygenation of your drinking water.

The AqueousAir™ water aeration system will effectively and efficiently aerate water in tanks from 5,000L to 50,000L.
Air is introduced into the water tank at a rate of 70 litres per minute.
A 25,000L water tank will take approximately 6 hours to completely circulate
After your first aeration cycle, the AqueousAir™ system can be operated for approximately 1 hour per day for adequate circulation (water volume and water quality dependent).

Preparation

Check man-hole entry to tank. If 400mm or less, you may need to connect breather pipe after leveraging the base & aerator assembly (after required length of polypipe has been fitted)
Assess how air filter will be fitted to tank
1. Through strainer (most suitable for concrete tanks)
2. Through roof of tank (suitable for poly or galvanised tanks)
3. Through sidewall (suitable for poly or galvanised tanks)
Electrical cable. Plan how this will come out of the tank, and whether additional drilling will be required
1. Majority of installations, a groove can be cut on the side of the tank strainer
Electrical connection point. Will an additional power point be required by a qualified electrician?
Do you need to consider where the water is coming into the tank and if this will have an effect on the system? That is, strong water flow pushing the system around or flowing directly onto the pipework?
1. What if water cartage is delivering water? Customer needs to know to inform water tanker if removing strainer with air filter coming through it, and not to have the water knock the aerator system over - or remove system from water tank and reset.

Assembly

We recommend checking and preparing your AqueousAir™ unit prior to onsite installation.

Fix aerator/cover section to pump/stand assembly (image: Step 1)
1. Use plumbing tape to ensure aerator/cover section is tightly connected
2. Hand tight is sufficient
Insert and glue the 0.7m poly pipe section pre-fixed with the Tapping Saddle (and pre-drilled air hole) to the 25mm poly end cap, which is fixed on top of pump/stand assembly (image: Step 2)
Fit air suction hose to aerator/cover and to Tapping Saddle fixed to poly pipe (image: Step 3)
1. If suction hose is too tight, you may need to heat the hose up to ensure it is fitted
2. If you have a small tank access point (< 400mm), you may need to fit the suction hose after lowering the fully assembled unit into the tank.
Fit required number of pvc pipe extensions & 25mm pvc pipe couplings to unit
1. Height of system at this stage is best to be slightly higher than required. Will be cut to size on installation

Installation

Fit air filter assembly to pre-determined point on tank (wall, roof, strainer)
1. If wall or roof; cut 35mm – 40mm hole
2. If strainer; cut 35-40mm hole in centre of strainer
3. Disassemble air filter unit, unscrewing removable nut
4. Place air filter unit through pre-cut hole, with filter on the outside
5. Screw removable nut back onto air filter assembly
6. Leave loose with 20cm play. Do not tighten up
With assembled aeration unit, lower through tank access point
1. Never lower (or retrieve) the unit using the power lead as this may cause damage to the cable entry seals, causing leaks and unsafe operation.
Air filter assembly has approximately 20cm of adjustment that can be wound up or down
1. Align the top of the pvc pipe of the assembled aerator unit with the bottom of the fixed air filter assembly
2. Cut excess pipe off the top of the assembled aerator unit, with approximately 5cm of overlap
3. Remove any pvc pipe shavings/excess
Apply Green plumbing pressure glue to the top/outside of the poly pipe on the assembled aeration unit.
Shift aerator unit in place underneath the fixed air filter assembly and insert the pvc pipe.
Wind the bottom nut of the Air filter up tight to the extraction point of the tank (roof, wall or strainer)
Wind the top nut (external) down to tightly secure the system to the tank.
Run electrical cable through pre-determined exit point
1. If required drill holes or cut a groove for cable to fit flush without extending or with overhang
Connect power to unit, switch on and test
1. Check for any movement in the unit under power
2. Is the water moving sufficiently around the tank to achieve its purpose
If unit working correctly, switch off, fix the power timer system and set to appropriate operational times.

Maintenance & Operation

Pump suction strainer – remove and clean
It should not be necessary to service the pump suction strainer as the AqueousAir™ unit does not sit in sludge/sediment.
If maintenance is required, the AqueousAir™ unit needs to be extracted from the tank, the stainless steel base removed from the pump unit, and removing the screws on the base, inspect/clean the filter.
Do not run AqueousAir™ system dry. The pump must be switched off when the water level is reduced to the top of the pump housing
Do not use your AqueousAir™ Water Tank Aeration system when there is sediment in the tank. Abrasive materials, such as sand and grit in the water, will accelerate wear, causing a shortened pump life.
The aeration unit is maintenance free

12-month warranty on pump, aerator and fittings from time of supply.
