A Food Grade Grease is required due to the fact we are working with consumable/potable water. There are two key uses in the PWS operations:

To grease O-rings of sterilization/filter units, and
For the older 3-screw UV systems where stainless steel screws can get stuck in the head units.

Refer to Module 4 sections 7.4 and 8.3 for details of use in supply and servicing.

Whilst the purpose for the use of Food Grade Grease does not make contact with the water flow for the filtration system, we use the Food Grade Grease as a measure of precaution. The little touches make the Pristine Water Systems service above and beyond what our competitors provide.

Food Grade lubricants are required in all areas of manufacturing and production where there is a likelihood of coming into contact with food and food packaging. A lubricant that is designed to be safe for use in food processing is referred to as “Food Grade”, which have a low level of toxicity and are usually formulated to be a pale or clear colour and have a low odour.
