The water cleaning, reclamation and filtering industry is presently one of the fastest growing industries in the world. Looking forward, the future of the water industry is great. Drought has not had a negative impact on our industry. In fact, it has had the reverse effect. It has focused people on their need for a reliable supply of clean, fresh and clear water.

At present, more consumers are questioning the water quality and water availability being provided by Councils and State Governments. Problem water is a growing concern throughout every region of the world, not just Australia. Many residential homeowners are switching back to tanks to provide at least some of their water consumption needs. Many homeowners have no choice with dwindling central supplies. The supply of water from centralised sources such as Council and State Government dams is under pressure from the twin evils of drought and population increases.

The costs of delivered water have focused consumers on the need for their storage to be clean. It also reinforces the need that a tank clean doesn’t result in the water previously brought in or collected being wasted in the process. Many local authorities are placing the installation of tanks as a development condition on all new housing estates, not only for storm water control but also for dual use including toilet flushing and clothes washing. This has led many tank manufacturing companies to greatly expand their range of tanks. This is most apparent in the steel segment of the tank manufacturing industry with monoliths such as Bluescope (BHP) jumping feet first into the water business.

Councils and some State Governments provide generous rebates and grants for households and community groups who install rainwater tanks. This has led to the uptake in tank sales to rise steadily over recent time and the demand for tanks is looking to accelerate.

Almost all new resorts are required to install water tanks to achieve a level of self-sustainability in drinking, washing and garden water use. Existing resorts have either added water storage or have plans in train to do so in the next few years. In the cities, almost all residential buildings have tanks to provide sufficient water pressure to all units. As these building tanks age, unit owners are realizing that the centralised water supplies may be clean but as they pass through these building tanks on the way to their kitchen taps and washing machines, then regular tank cleaning and water filtering is crucial to remove smells and prevent stains.

Site based tanks & dams are still the primary sources of water in country and rural areas and sizes of tanks are growing, providing greater protection from drought and allowing occupants cheaper bulk water delivery where it is the delivery that is the major cost component and not the water itself.

In short, the literal volume and quantity of water tanks is ever increasing and market for home, unit and commercial water cleaning, tank cleaning, filtration equipment supply and servicing is expanding at an incredible rate throughout Australia.

With the explosion of tank usage and filtration penetration in the marketplace, there is also a growing awareness of water conservation and an increasing demand for pure drinking water.
